You've got lists for the most influential churches, the fastest growing churches, and probably a dozen more. I don't think any church on any of those lists sets out to make that list, but I can tell you one list that we probably won't ever make....
I don't think we're going to make the final cut of the Innovative Church list. Why? Because we're really not that innovative. Church in a movie theater might be innovative for Cartersville, but there are thousands of churches around the country doing this. What if we start a video venue or a satellite campus one day? Well, we'd be joining 20,000 other churches (and 7 of the 10 fastest growing).
There are very few churches that are innovative in my opinion. I think LifeChurch is innovative - launching a Second Life campus, an internet campus, some of their ad campaigns and their use of technology. Having a band and wearing jeans and meeting in a movie theater isn't innovative. I don't think we're doing anything at Oak Leaf Church that is unique to the Kingdom. We can't chalk up this thing called Oak Leaf to something that we've orchestrated. None of us were trained for this. The people on our staff didn't come with tons of experience in their area. We're not breaking any new ground. But God is blessing and God is working. We're just trying to hold on. This is ALL a God thing.
So I know we were nominated for this list (I think it as Anthony) and someone voted for us, but we're really not doing anything all that innovative. We're just doing what God called us to do.
